Programs
Programa comunitario
It is an ongoing program that informs and empowers marginalized rural and urban women about sexual and reproductive health and rights through participatory workshops.
We work in 40 communities around Lake Pátzcuaro and 5 in the Purépecha Plateau. Since 2010, the program has benefited Indigenous and mestiza women through key topics such as self-care, respectful childbirth, and prevention of infections and HPV.
We also work with girls and adolescents in the region to conduct comprehensive workshops where we develop different activities related to sexual health, reproductive health, as well as guidance and sexual diversity.
Casa de Salud
We have three spaces dedicated to women’s sexual and reproductive health care in the towns of Erongarícuaro, Pátzcuaro, and Morelia, attended by Professional Midwives.
Guidance and education are essential components of the Professional Midwifery model. Through this approach, women become informed and empowered to make responsible and healthy decisions for themselves and their families. In addition, we have two birth centers where women give birth in a dignified, humane, and enriching environment.
Programa Educativo
We offer a technical degree program in Professional Midwifery based on the Essential Competencies for Midwifery Practice established by the Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) and the core documents of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). The program consists of three years of study and one year of social service.
Voluntariado
We have a residency program for national and international students interested in collaborating to promote and strengthen women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights and to work in rural communities.
We are affiliated with several national and international universities. We offer students the opportunity to complete professional internships in various disciplines related to women’s issues and conditions: Professional Midwifery, Medicine, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, Rural Sociology, International Development, Human Development, Film, Gender Studies, and Social Communication.
